Huanghuali (Dalbergia odorifera; rosewood); mounts huangtong (yellow brass)
H9 x W14.5 x D9.5 cm (3 1/2 x 5 5/8 x 3 3/4 in.)
The document box is rectangular with a hinged lid and yellow brass mounts. The large cloud-shaped corner mounts on the top, the vertical corner fittings on the lower box, the square lock-plate with chamfered corners and the cloud-shaped hasp are secured by split pins. The inset base of the box is of softwood, likely jumu (southern elm wood).
